How It Works

Open String Recordings is a one-stop shop for high-quality remote string arranging and recording services on an à la carte basis. Send us your project. We’ll have a consultation, then you get professional string tracks without the need to hire a separate arranger, performers, engineer, or studio.

Our Approach

We take great pride in our work. It’s reflected in our carefully curated collection of instruments, microphones, and analog outboard gear, and the hand-crafted acoustic treatments which make our recording space both functional and unique. More importantly, we invest in each project a creative and highly personal approach informed by decades’ worth of learning and experience, along with a sense of curiosity and a willingness to adapt, experiment, and learn. Our music is more than an extension of ourselves. It is the air we breathe, our best attempt at magic, and the way we process the world.

So, how does it actually work?

That depends on your project, and your needs.

Perhaps you have specific ideas for what you hope we can achieve — parts already written, or sketches you’d like us to incorporate. Great! Send us PDFs and a rough mix (or stems, MIDI or audio demos, click track, chord chart on a napkin, whatever) and we’ll bring your vision to life.

You might just be looking for the extra warmth, richness, sparkle, and musical interest a great string arrangement can add. Or you’d like to see what a [burning/tender/soaring/etc.] fiddle break, or overdriven amplified violin solo, or simple chord pads can do to make your music that little bit more unique. In any case, we can help, and we’ll work with you to figure it out in an efficient and personalized manner.
